Dr Toby Ford

Qualifications:

Dr Toby Ford is the founder of Ford Health and a leading expert in the area of corporate health risk management. Toby's key interest areas are in men's health, the management of chronic disease, stress and work/life balance.

After graduating from the University of Queensland Medical School and spending his residency at the Mater Hospital, Dr Ford spent time as a Flying Doctor and in suburban general practice. Interest in prevention of illness, early screening and detection were pursued overseas in the USA and the United Kingdom, giving a good grounding in many facets of worksite health.

Dr Kylie Gates

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery First Class Honours, University of Qld
  • Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners

Kylie graduated in Medicine from the University of Queensland in 1988. She specialised in General Practice but has maintained a subspeciality in Preventive Medicine and Occupational Stress Management. She has worked in the field of Corporate Health since 1995. This has given her extensive experience in the working lives and health of both men and women in the public and private sector. Within Ford Health, she also oversees Quality Assurance of medical services and training of medical staff. Additionally, Kylie maintained an involvement in General Practice for 14 years. She has an interest in the provision of community first aid, having been a Medical Officer with St John Ambulance since 1988.

Kylie is married with 2 school-aged children and so has experience of the tension involved in achieving a healthy work/life balance. She has also had considerable experience at being a patient and this gives her a good understanding of what it is like to cope with illness and the health system as a consumer.

Dr Richard Murias

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, University of Tasmania 1991
  • Visiting Medical Officer to several hospitals in Brisbane
  • Registrar in Radiation Oncology Geelong Public Hospital, RMO Oncology Peter McCallum Cancer Institute
  • Axonal Connections Pty Ltd as a consulting practitioner in skin screening

Dr Richard Murias is a leading expert in the area of corporate health risk management. He is a consulting GP to Ford Health as well as a practising local GP. Since graduating in 1991 Dr Richard Murias has spent his time focussing on building his professional experience in General Practice, Oncology and Corporate Health.

Over the last 15 years Richard's professional interest has developed towards Preventative Medicine and the impact this has on Work - Lifestyle Balance and Executive Stress Management. After gaining extensive experience as the Registered Medical Officer Oncology at the Peter McCallum Cancer Institute Richard has combined his two professional passions of Executive Health and the management of cancer risk and the impact this lifestyle disease has on the work force.

Dr John Anderson

Qualifications:

  • Medical Officer RAN 20 years in the rank of Commander
  • 1983 Award a fellowship in Occupational Medicine
  • Diploma in Diving & Hyperbaric Medicine (Dip DHM) from South Pacific Underwater Medicine Society,1979
  • Fellow of Australian Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FAFOM), 1985

Dr John Anderson graduated in medicine from the University of Melbourne in 1967. After residency at Ballarat Base Hospital, he commenced full time military service with the Royal Australian Navy. His naval specialty was in diving medicine, and submarine escape and rescue, and he is a former Officer-in-Charge of the Navy's Submarine and Underwater Medicine Unit at Balmoral, NSW. He retired from the Navy in 1986 in the rank of Commander, and moved to the NSW Central Coast to commence general medical practice.

Dr Catherine Powell

Qualifications

  • 2000 Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery University of Queensland
  • 2005 Diploma Obstetrics and Gynaecology RANZCOG
  • 2007 Diploma in Child Health Sydney Children's Hospital

Catherine Powell achieved her MBBS in 2000 at the University of Queensland. Since then she has worked in both public and private hospital settings in the areas of emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, and general practice.

Working with the Mercy Refugee Service, Catherine is also involved with providing a service to facilitate linking refugee families with available community services and providing personal support to families.

The past two years have seen Catherine develop an interest in vaccinations, skin cancer and corporate health checks.

Dr Peter Houston

Qualifications

  • 2009 Commenced Master of Medicine - Skin Cancer March 2009 University of Queensland
  • 2002 Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery University of Queensland
  • 1997 Bachelor of Science University of Queensland

Since graduating from the University of Queensland in 2002 Peter has completed two years of surgical rotations in the fields of general and plastic surgery at several major hospitals. He has also worked in a variety of specialty areas throughout Queensland and the UK.

Peter is currently completing a surgical traineeship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and is studying towards a Masters of Medicine in Skin Cancer at the University of Queensland.
