Flu Vaccinations

More than 1 in 5 workers can be absent during the winter season due to colds and flu.  The cost of  influenza to businesses each year is significant. According to the National Health and Medical Research Council, 10 percent of all workplace absenteeism associated with illness is due to influenza (March 2007).

Influenza is caused by a highly contagious virus which spreads easily.  Most people struggle into work when they are unwell.  By that time they may have been spreading the virus for days throughout the workplace.  Once a flu outbreak has begun it is difficult to protect other staff.

And it is not just the lost working days - working while ill with the flu can slow reaction times and decrease productivity due to tiredness and exhaustion, which can last long after a person has returned to work.

The good news is that studies show that a workplace Flu Vaccination program can decrease absenteeism from the flu by 43 per cent, saving the business four and a half times the cost of the program.

Providing Flu Vaccinations in your workplace could be expected to generate savings through reduced absenteeism and prevention of productivity loss.  And it helps maintain staff morale.

Ford Health's Flu Vaccination program uniquely combines professional program management, education and business management strategies.
